Pooja is part of Empire Apps — a publication of small, beautifully made software for the Indian household. We are obsessed with calm-tech, dignified UI, and the kind of craft that respects the user's attention and their religion.

What this app actually is

Pooja is a daily devotional companion. It is not a content farm with mantras embedded in pop-up ads. It is not a marketplace pretending to be a Panchang. It is a quiet, accurate almanac with three local-first capabilities and a small priest booking surface attached.

The almanac: Tithi, Nakshatra, Yoga, Karana, sunrise/sunset, Brahma Muhurat, Abhijit, Rahukaal computed locally for any Indian city. Pure math, no API, no telemetry.
The catalogue: 108 mantras in Devanagari, romanization, and EN translation. Source URLs cited for every entry (sanskritdocuments.org, vedabase.io, public-domain Sanskrit primary texts).
The booking: Five verified priests, four cities. Razorpay Route splits the dakshina on-ledger: 85% priest, 10% platform, 5% GST. Post-puja review.
The donations: Ten verified temple trusts (PAN + 12A + 80G all on-file). Auto Form-10BE PDF receipt, signed via Adobe PDF MCP, with verification URL.

What this app refuses to be

A horoscope-and-numerology farm with crores of pageviews and an ad stack.
A "free" service that monetises by selling your devotion data to insurance brokers and tour operators.
An app that pretends Sanskrit and Devanagari are visual flourishes. Hindi and Sanskrit are first-class throughout.
An app that issues 80G receipts without verifying the trust's 12A registration.

Pooja is not a spiritual authority. We are an interface to the calendar and an honest booking rail. For the meaning of any vrat, the muhurat for any wedding, or the right katha for your family, please consult your own priest.

The stack, briefly

Panchang: 1,572 LoC pure-math engine. Julian Day Number + simplified Meeus solar/lunar ephemeris. Lahiri ayanamsa. No external service.
Mantras: 742 LoC catalogue with source-cited Devanagari + romanization + EN triple per entry.
Priest marketplace: 250 LoC chassis module. Razorpay Route splits, sample seed catalogue, ranked by rating × log(bookings).
80G donations: 200 LoC chassis module. Trust whitelist with PAN + 12A + 80G + ministry-filing source URL. PDF receipts via Adobe PDF MCP.
Hosting: Cloudflare Pages (the static surface) and a Coolify-managed PocketBase (the encrypted backend, if you sign in). Both run on India-routed infra.

Where we stand on AdSense and tracking

No third-party ad scripts on Pooja. The Free tier is funded by the Empire Apps Bundle.
No third-party analytics. We use first-party HTTP logs and our own CRDT-replicated audit. Disabled by default for unsigned-in users.
No social-network beacons. No GA. No Hotjar. No remote fonts other than the Google Fonts subset used for Devanagari and Crimson Pro.
If you do sign in, your offerings, mantras, bookings, and lineage notes are encrypted at rest in OPFS and synced through Cloudflare R2 only when you switch sync on.
